LIVING WITH MIGRAINE

The future is getting brighter

I was born by the Mediterranean sea, a part of the world where the sun shines bright. Amazing, right? Well, yes and no. Because being a sufferer of migraines means the gorgeous sunshine can sometimes be unbearable.

I have photophobia, so when I have a migraine attack I have to spend days-on-end lying in a darkened room. This disrupts my enjoyment of holidays, free time with our family, and having fun with friends. I’d rather be a surfing not suffering! Migraines don’t care if you’ve got a big celebration coming up or if an important date is coming up. A crisis is unexpected and can happen at any time. For this reason, every moment without pain is to be treasured.

Thanks to prophylactic treatment and some acute medicines, my attacks have become more infrequent and less severe. And that’s great news for my love of the sun and sea. I can plan more days at the beach. Swimming and sunbathing is a part of my life again. I’m finally in control of my condition!

New treatments and medications allow people like me who live with migraines to lead fuller lives. A life without fear of the next big crisis. Things are looking bright. And when it’s nice and bright, I prefer being outside.
